Expert Resident Director

Full-time, on-site Resident Director, Kristopher Riggs has directed the BCA program in Marburg since 2001. In addition to teaching the BCA translation course in the fall semester, Kris helps students negotiate the German university system, takes care of student admission and matriculation to the University of Marburg, makes arrangements for student housing, health insurance and pre-semester language course enrollment and assists students with obtaining a student residency permit for the Federal Republic of Germany. He also plans regularly scheduled social events, including the Thanksgiving, Christmas and Fourth of July celebrations. Kris has an M.A. in German and is certified as a German-to-English translator by the American Translators Association (ATA).

Philipps University

  • Philipps University has hosted BCA participants since 1962, when 25 American students boarded a ship bound for Germany

BCA Orientation

  • During orientation at BCA Marburg, all students participate in an intensive language course that is designed to meet the needs of all the students who may have different levels of language proficiency. Included in orientation is a five-day study tour.
