Trips & Activities
Galway's prime location on the banks of the River Corrib provides students with excellent opportunities to try a variety of water sports, ranging from rowing to kayaking to canoeing. Windsurfing and sailing are popular nearby in Salthill, and the mountains and hills of Connemara are perfect for hiking.
During the semester, you can look forward to an excursion with other BCA students in Ireland, led by the BCA Derry resident director. During the spring semester, you have the opportunity to attend BCA’s International Student Conference on U.S.–European Relations, which offers the opportunity to discuss the state of the relationship with people actually workingin European and U.S. institutions in Europe.
Excursions change from year to year, but past BCA students have enjoyed the following trips:
- Corcomroe Abbey
- Cliffs of Moher
- Coole Park
- Thoor Ballylee
- Killarney
- The Ring of Kerry
When you want to get away, you can hop on a train and be in Dublin in about three hours. Paris, Amsterdam, and a host of other European cities are just a train ride away.
Galway is truly a college town. The university is located close to the heart of the city and during the academic year, 15 percent of the city's population is students. More about Student Life at NUI, Galway
